Obama's Re-Election Campaign Chair, Eva Longoria, is No "Philanthropist"

Original post made by Voter, Danville, on Feb 23, 2012

A Presidential candidate can tell you a lot about themselves by whom they select to their inner circle of advisors. President Obama selection of actress Eva Longoria to head his Re-election campaign again shows you that he is more about "style than substance".

Voter -

Interesting views. But, when you post here, you really should get your facts straight.

First, Eva Longoria is not the "head" of President Obama's re-election campaign. She is one of 35 nominal Co-Chairs, which is more of an honorary position.

Second, Longoria did not file bankruptcy personally. The company that owns the restaurant, Beso, in which she is an investor, filed bankruptcy.

Third, the restaurant has continued to operate while in bankruptcy (likely paying its employees while it operates, unless you have facts to the contrary). It has now been purchased by Landry's, which will continue to operate it.

Fourth, according to news sources in Las Vega, where the restaurant is located, the restaurant is quite popular, generating more than $14 million in revenue annually, but was poorly managed. It's unlikely that a busy entertainer like Longoria was deeply involved in the day-to-day management of the restaurant.

So, your thesis really boils down to a poorly constructed attempt to impugn President Obama on the basis of his re-election campaign's appointment to an honorary position of an entertainer who invested in a restaurant that was mismanaged.
