A 27-year-old San Ramon resident accused of brutally beating his mother with a baseball bat was charged with attempted murder on Thursday, according to reports.

Aaron Ricks was arrested on Monday night after police received a call that an elderly woman was yelling for help and bleeding badly. The 60-something woman was transported to John Muir Medical Center in Walnut Creek for treatment of significant injuries, including a broken arm, caused by several strikes to the head and body from the baseball bat, said Lt. Dan Pratt.

Ricks is being held in Martinez Detention Facility on $1 million and is not likely to enter a plea until next month. He must also enter a plea for enhancements of using a deadly weapon and causing great bodily injury.

Officers found Ricks standing on the porch of his shared home with a baseball bat around 11:50 p.m. When he refused to drop the object and advanced toward a SRPD officer, Ricks was hit with a less-than-lethal 40-millimeter sponge round and disarmed, Pratt said.

The motive for the attack is still under investigation.

  1. Not only accused of being HER mother, but HE must also enter a plea.

What is this person. Maybe we should get the facts from
where the Danville express copied them from “The Times” which
is in today’s paper. The Mother probably did not spank him
when he was little. Probably was a “Spock Baby”
