As we all know, the CA budget takes a tortuous route to passage – even in the best of times. These aren’t those times, especially for animal partisans, since Governor Brown has recommended repeal of the state’s landmark shelter animal protection law, known as the Hayden Bill.

Thanks Joan!

Sub-committee voted unanimously to eliminate the part of the Budget that would've repealed Hayden. Two paws way up!

There will be a similar Senate hearing in April, and likely later meetings of the policy merits, so stay tuned!

There is much to be done, relatively inexpensively, to further improve CA's animal sheltering system -- let's move the focus on those next great leaps forward.
