Golf season in full swing

Original post made on Mar 11, 2010

With spring, comes high school golf. The Monte Vista High men's varsity golf team spent a sunny day on the green Roundhill Country Club against Foothill High last week. Both teams are top competitors in the league. The results last week were Foothill, 189; and Monte Vista, 195. Photos by Chris Scott/www.calsportsphoto.com.

Dear Dolores,

Why are high school golf teams noted as men and women when other sports are girls and boys. Is golf less emotional and childish?

What we expect from our young men and women in high school earns them that designation as young adults and the right to be treated as such, don't you think?

So far our community alliance with the partnership among students and teachers has created a very well-educated adult result. I think celebration is in order, right?
