The Iron Horse Corridor created by the SPRR San Ramon Branch Line over its 100+ year history has many conflicts. AS population and travel parallelled the railroad, now the Iron Horse Trail, issues of traffic and construction have grown geometrically. As we see in the Town Square Forum, neighbors are sensitive to the volume of through-traffic that endangers our communities, the monsterous in-fill on our hillsides and ridgelines, and the lack of planning representation for our Iron Horse neighbors and their neighborhoods.
Whether within cities or county areas, our corridor suffers from over-burdened roads, streets and lanes. Our hillsides are being more rapidly erased by monster boxes. Our access to our neighborhoods is often reduced to impossible at peak commute times.
It is time to reverse this rapid decline in "livability" occurring in the Iron Horse Corridor by establishing the planning policies we expect from our local, regional, state and federal representatives. An ad hoc committee of Walnut Creek, Diablo Vista (Alamo) Region, Danville, and San Ramon neighbors is starting the process of policy planning and neighbors within each segment will be talking with neighbors soon.
Neigbors, what issues do you see as critical?
