Can someone tell me why the Town of Danville has declared war on Trees..? The once shielded 680 freeway is now visible from East & West frontage roads where they were once shielded. Makes it very unsightly, increases the traffic noise (can now hear it from I live while sleeping with window open) and we no longer have the trees to filter the pollutants from the traffic. It seems like the transportation planners answers has and continues to be simply widen the roads to alleviate traffic congestion.. Why can't we double down on public transit..?
Also, see that in the once hidden gem of the Danville South Park they have now removed all of the Ivy that provided some of the charm of the park and will replace it with a white picket fence (not sure of the actual plans). To quote a song from the Counting Crows it's almost as if they will "pave paradise to put up a parking lot.."
I just want my tree's backů

The removal of trees (I'm assuming you mean along San Ramon Valley Boulevard and Camino Ramon) is part of the Caltrans auxiliary lanes project. The plan is to add a lane between Sycamore Valley Road and Crow Canyon Road and workers will build a retaining wall in front of the Elworhthy property -- the soon-to-be KB Homes project -- the removal of trees is to make way for the wall.
Trees were also removed on Camino Ramon from Sycamore to Greenbrook. Read more about the project and upcoming construction here: Web Link. You can also email I680auxlanes@gmail.com with additional questions

Danville Express, why can you not give us the DETAILS?
Where are the drawings?
Where are the plans?
Where is the research that shows that these lanes are needed......and needed by whom?
I get on and off these lanes all the time. There is never much problem because there is over a MILE of distance.
The only issue that I've ever seen is during 5:00 PM rush hour when the Bishop Ranch work traffic is entering north on 680. It is a LOT of cars, but still seems to merge fine.
WHAT IS THE PROBLEM being solved here?
I am not confident that their "solution" won't be causing us, Residents, some more problems.
Show us the PLANS!
Tell us who is responsible, in Danville and SR, for having reviewed and OK'd these plans!
