Town Council to hold hearing on Magee Ranch development

Danville's Town Council will hold its first public hearing on the Magee Ranch/SummerHill Homes development at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, June 18. The Council will certify the final environmental impact report and final development plan request related to architectural and landscape design features of the project.

This development just keeps on giving. It seems like this has gone on forever. The comment that the cost of widening the road and all of the improvements should be the responsibility of the developer seems appropriate then the response from the town that they have done enough? Clearly the powers that be with the Town of Danville are aiding and assisting the developers. Tonights meeting will be the same as all of them. The citizens will protest and complain and the town will just go ahead and approve this no matter the wishes of the majority.

The voters in Danville are getting what they voted for...corruption and irresponsibility in the town council and staff.

You all knew way ahead of time what they were all about, but you naive people voted them in anyway.

Bill is right, it's going to business as usual at tonight's meeting.

Let's see, one unit per 20 acres zoning for 410 acres is about 20 units if my abacus is working correctly. I fully support a 20 unit project on that site.

And yet, there parcels with other zoning designations allowing higher densities. Perhaps you should read the official documents for the proposed development rather than assuming abbreviated reporting of it contains all of the details.

Housing developments are a great source of income for the government, of course they don't care about the opposition by local residents. It's all about more tax money and to hell with the environment.

How embarrassing, what a bunch of retards. What does the mayor have to say as a final conclusion? He really should put out a statement.
Well, most locals call us Danville high tax payers for maintaining and enhancing better places to live in and more opportunities for our children "Mayberry."
Not so much any more. That's an insult now. I wonder what all those town council and Summerhill people would have to say if Mike Wallace from 60 mins was still alive & in their face!
Shame.
And you know what? We still can't even get a dignified answer even though we realize all this was a done deal and the main reason is to produce more dollars and perks for town staff. Because this town still needs a whole lotta love in improvements.

I'm surprised my former husband took the time to post a message in the Danville Express. But dear Jack you shouldn't tell everyone all our secrets. By the way folks, I kicked my former husband out many years ago when I discovered he was cheating on me. He is right, he lives in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania with Charles. He doesn't really know all the problems the folks in Danville are having. He moved back East long ago. Oh my...I hope he is not back on the west coast and living in Pittsburg, California. Oh well I wish Jack and Charles all the best.

What a disappointment - it appears the town council was taken in by the pompous Jeb Magee who thinks his name and money will get him what he wants. Let's hope he leaves town after this.
I am giving everyone I know phone numbers for the town council and Summerhill executives so they can call morning or night to tell them we have a huge backup on Diablo Road.
I will never again vote for any of those individuals on the Town Council - including most of all Newell Arnerich who should retire.
I am done with you.

Please help 1 Horse starving on this property a total of 7 horses approx. Forget the homes and find the starving horse and help it. Horse and cattle graze with brand J7 I don't know who these animals belong too. Please investigate.

Why does our paid off council and planners and Mayor even bother making the pretense anymore? Why not just take the night off and go bowling? You never have, and never will listen to any meeting attendees. Unless we show up en masse with recall petitions, nothing is going to get their attention.

This is a great development & Danville is lucky to have gained so much open space. I am starting to appreciate the comment section of the Danville Weekly- it gives all you NIMBY's an outlet to voice your concerns because most people don't want to hear it.

Where do you get the idea that we have gained open space N.a.N. ? We've lost open space, regardless of the access issue. Don't you know that the KB Homes scumbags promised easement access to the Las Trampas trail above Fort Hideous, and then reneged with no consequence at all from our fine city officials?
Covering open space with multi-millionaire trophy mansions is not a net gain except in your own dark backward upside down pro-property rights head. Whether hikers will really get what is promised remains to be seen.
And for the record, I live nowhere near Diablo, and rarely travel to that part of town other than on bike. When Walmart sets up camp in your backyard, y'all come back now, ya' hear?

Land in private hands is not considered "open" space. It is closed, with trespassing laws, applicable. So yes, Danville will gain open space if all goes according to plan.

Pleases don't confuse open space with open view.

BTW, not one of the folks here that complained about the development stepped forward to purchase the land and donate it to Danville, nor created a SOS Conservancy and do the required fundraising to affect the same.

JT: Check the General Plan. Agricultural land is indeed a subcategory of "Open Space" lands.

Those people "complaining" about the SummerHill and the Elworthy developments want the law to be followed regarding approval of those developments, including the people's Measure S right to vote on the rezoning of the Agricultural-designated A-4-zoned land to P-1, Planned Unit Development zoning. Danville's Town Council has ignored the law and denied the Measure S right to vote.
