Town Square

Danville releases draft 2030 general plan which will open all agricultural open space to dense residential development without a public vote!

Original post made by Danville Council Voter Guide, Danville, on Oct 21, 2012

ATTENTION DANVILLE VOTE: OUR TOWN AND PLANNNG COMMISSION ---INCLUDING CURRENT CANDIDATES FOR COUNCIL NEWELL ARNERICH, MIKE DOYLE, AND RENEE MORGAN---- JUST RELEASED THE DRAFT 2030 GENERAL PLAN, which they are planning to approve at a January 2013 Council meeting. Please go to the Town website to view the draft.

Contrary to Measure S, passed with 75% approval by Danville voters in 2000, the draft 2030 General Plan explicitly opens all Agricultural Open Space to dense residential development with no public vote required!

What can you do to defeat this travesty of liberty? VOTE for BOB NEALIS, JIM JELINCIC, AND DEANNA SULLIVAN for Town Council! They have gone on record supporting your Measure S right to decide whether open space is forever lost to residential development. They will not allow the 2030 General Plan to be approved in its present form.

DO NOT vote for incumbents Newell Arnerich and Mike Doyle and their endorsee Planning Commissioner Renee Morgan. They have betrayed your trust by denying your right to decide about open space destruction.

I agree 100% that the incumbents and their endorsed candidate who lied about her credentials should not be elected. They have become pawns of the developers, blatantly accept campaign contribution from developers, and refuse to follow the law requiring residents to vote on developers. Shame on them!

Thank you for posting this DCVG.
@ American: I'm the most concerned about Morgan's claim that she "protects our natural resources" when in fact her history indicates the opposite. That her employment claim is false is notable, but for me it's not the worst thing on her record.

How is it legal to allow building on lands voted by town people to saved as open land? This is ridiculous. I didn't move her many many many years ago to see this beautiful towns green space covered in high density homes. That's part of the beauty of this town. The integration of open space and homes without making it look like San Francisco or Oakland where it is shoulder to shoulder homes. This is discouraging and disappointing.

Well people in Danville...if you lose your open space...you get what deserve.

This will be interesting to see how you Danville folks handle this matter.

The information you are receiving is very specific.
DO NOT VOTE THE NASTY RASCALS INTO OFFICE.

It's all in your hands. But I truly believe there are still so many brain dead voter's in Danville that Newell A. Mike D. and Renee M. will get voted into office and give you folks what you deserve.

Just my thoughts...that's what I predict...

Thanks for Listening,Julia Pardini from Beautiful Not a City Alamo

Brain-dead being, or course, a condition Julia is well equipped to comment on......
Sad to say the election results may bear out that she is correct.

Money to pay for all of the urban landscaped right of way areas, all of the retrofitting and re-retrofitting of sidewalks and roads downtown, glorified edifices in the parks and Community buildings, all the infrastructure with employees and structures that require utilities, maintenance, salaries and pensions, special tax exempt deals for special businesses, and all of the other ongoing projects that the Town Council has achieved with enthusiastic approval of Danville voters has to come from TAXES. The only way to deal with their decline in revenue, once the services and "inessential" employees are gone, is to add to the tax base. This land grab is a good example of what people in power will do in order to achieve a legacy.

Most people are too busy working and paying their bills and getting their kids to school and back to pay attention. I hope they at least go out and vote and vote all the incumbents out of office. We need leaders who listen to the concerns of the people.
