Alamo has only two options: incorporation or annexation

As you prepare for participation and presentation at the LAFCO commissioners' meeting, Thursday, Septermber 18, 2008, at 4:30PM, Creekside Church, realize the options for our region's future do not include the status quo. State, County and local governments are focused on eliminating unincorporated islands and spheres of influence.
At the recent Calafco annual conference, resident counsel discovered specific intent by Contra Costa County to reduce its obligations to unincorporated regions and communities by supporting options as incorporation or annexation to nearby cities. Such options reduce duplication of public works and safety services provided by the county or allow specific services contracts with defined costs and no exceptional cost exposure.
Our options are now incorporation by our own definition or annexation to Walnut Creek and Danville. Please consider your position, or lack thereof, and make yourselves fully aware of your local government options.

Dear Alamo Ron,
It is one day later and the rosey glow of approval is still shining in a few sleepy heads this morning. AIM proponents received approval to proceed with a campaign to incorporate the Town of Alamo.
It will be you and me that will likely discuss the very large task that stands in front of the AIM committee and supporters. AIM will have to convert a two thirds NO vote currently existing within their boundaries to a majority YES vote. AIM must be aware on this bright morning that neighbors came forward last night to provide commissioners with the need for broad definition of the proposed town's structure, operations, services and staffing as the true financial reality of incorporation. Those same neighbors came forward and objected to the unilateral dismissal of any citizen participation in AIM's incorporation process and the Town of Alamo government that has been proposed.
The commissioners saw the issue of definition and nearly delayed approval of an election in order for AIM and LAFCO staff to provide such definition. Now, RON, it will likely be up to you and me to provoke such definition from AIM and establish the opportunity for a successful incorporation.
Let's share this opportunity and put away the gauntlets.
