The San Ramon Valley school board is set to consider approving a proposed budget for the upcoming fiscal year along with plans for improving student outcomes over the next three years, with the goal of putting community and taxpayer suggestions into action.

Board members are set to vote on the proposed 2023-24 general fund budget and multi-year projections ahead of a June 15 deadline to provide the proposed budget to Gov. Gavin Newsom’s office, with the governor set to sign off on the budget by June 30.
Any changes required by the state would be considered and discussed by the board during a later meeting in August.
Upon approving the proposed budget, the district would also submit it to the Contra Costa County Office of Education for review, along with a proposed Local Control and Accountability Plan.
The district is at the end of the current three-year LCAP cycle, with a proposed plan for the next cycle up for a vote at the upcoming meeting.
“This report includes reflection on the greatest progress and identified needs that surfaced this school year as well as the district’s vision for the next year,” assistant superintendent of educational services Christine Huajardo wrote in a staff report. “This vision is explained through the action steps, metrics and expected outcomes for each of the district’s goals identified through stakeholder engagement with feedback from the community and staff.”
School districts throughout the state are required to self-reflect and self-report on the goals and outcomes of current efforts to address student needs via the California School Dashboard.
The presentation prepared for the upcoming meeting outlines goals and associated actions that are intended to align with the district’s strategic directions — equity, social/emotional well-being, shared leadership, deep learning and innovation, stewardship of resources, and a culture of responsiveness.
Actions to attain goals related to the district’s strategic directions in the proposed LCAP for the upcoming cycle include creating and hiring for new positions, professional development for staff and faculty, developing a grading reform committee, and committing to develop both wellness centers and ethnic studies courses at all of the district’s comprehensive high schools.
The San Ramon Valley Unified School District’s Board of Education is set to meet at 6 p.m. on Tuesday (June 13). The agenda is available here.
