I've always thought the writers of "The American President" got it right when character President Shepherd gave a speech including the following:

I don't think the libs want a recount in California and disclose just how many illegals voted here. In fact, my guess is the recounts in the states the losers have financed will disclose a larger margin of victory for Trump if the illegal, the dead and double vote counts are tossed. This is truly a bi-coastal country now, with a huge amount of takers on the coasts and the makers in the middle. There are other more important issues than allowing boys and girls to use the same bathroom, being able to marry a goat or legally smoking dope. That's the kind of people I want in my administration representing our country."

Tom Price - Health and Human Services Secretary - Set up and raised millions from the "Physicians Council for Responsible Reform", shaking down doctors for donations using the same scam Tom DeLay ran. Trump on Price: "a tireless problem solver and the go-to expert on healthcare policy".

And these appointees exemplify the kind of sludge left when Mr. Trump "drained the swamp". Thank goodness Elizabeth Warren hasn't backed off and will continue to champion consumers.

Like Trump is a step up? President-Elect Trump has been bought and paid for to the tune of *hundreds* of millions of dollars in loans from big banks, and not just Goldman Sachs. He's now rewarding those same bankers for their investments and hard work putting people out of their homes and jobs with Cabinet posts. Throw in a VP-elect who thinks you can "pray the gay away", an influential alt-right white nationalist (Bannon), those with a history of making racially-charged remarks (Sessions, Flynn), someone who says they're not qualified to run a Cabinet post and wouldn't want to "cripple the presidency" (Carson), a billionaire who wants to gut public school education in favor of private schools (DeVos) and that sludge just keeps getting deeper. I can't wait until half-term Gov Palin is announced as the VA lead, or one of the Exxon CEOs (Tillerson, Raymond) for Sec of State.

Assuming all Trump's picks are blessed, the only winners in the next four years are big banks/insurance/pharma/oil and tax-subsidized private schools. It seems his administration will vigorously work to privatize everything they can get their hands on, take away the health care of 20 million, and energize the "war" on women's health and welfare. Now it appears that James Mattis will be tapped for SecDef. Good pick, but I hope that while building back up our military he fixes the obviously broken defense procurement system. Defense contractors have been ripping us off for decades and this needs to be fixed, and fast.

I used to work for one of those contractors 30 years ago; so it has been decades. I was a Business Systems Analyst for Hughes Aircraft Space & Communications Group in the 1980's.

Does anyone remember the $600 Toilet Seat? This was one example paraded out by the press to expose government waste and lack of control.The media likes to whip audiences up with sensational stories, which even if they are not false, they are not completely true.

In reality the cost of this toilet seat was an example of too much government control. I'm not going to describe all the steps in the DoD procurement process, but it is long and drawn out even for a toilet seat.

But this was no ordinary toilet seat that you could pick up for $20 at the local hardware store. This was a toilet seat for the high tech toilet in the Space Station. It was manufactured to precise specifications to fit that one and only toilet in that one and only Space Station.

The government procurement process requires putting customized items out for bid with highly detailed schematics and specifications. At least under Obama the government doesn't need a complex process for paperclips and coffee cups anymore.
