Video of DSRSD meeting now online

Uploaded: Dec 17, 2012

The Dublin San Ramon Services District tried to stream live video of their Board of Directors meetings last summer but failed due to insufficient band width. Sue Stephenson said they would try a new Internet Service Provider, but so far they have not been able to steam meetings live.

The minutes of the October 16, 2012 meeting explained the delay. "Due to a faulty internet connection, there was difficulty recording and broadcasting the Board meetings. Information Technology Supervisor Bob Treppa has reported that the earliest this problem could be resolved is February 2013."

Instead they decided to record the meeting and make the video available for downloading. Again from minutes for October 16th, "Staff will review the recording tonight for sound quality and determine if this new method is a good alternate way to record meetings. If this system is satisfactory, the next meeting of the Board of Directors should be recorded and then loaded to the internet."

The websites shows links to videos of the November 6, 20, and December 3, 2012 meetings, but when I tried them they all went to the video of the November 20, 2012 meeting.

The camera was placed at the back of the room to take in the whole dais, but the Directors were so tiny in the picture that it was hard to tell who they are if you didn't already know.

The audio was quite clear, so the meeting was understandable, particularly to fans (like me) of DRDSD meetings. The video runs under 20 minutes.

Ed Duarte, who had just won election to the District, two new employees, and three boy scouts were in the audience at that meeting. That's a crowd for a DSRSD meeting.

The next DSRSD meeting is scheduled for December 18, 2012 at 6 pm. The Directors will select the Board President and Vice President for next year.

There isn't much suspense in this, since the Vice President, Dawn Benson, will be moved up to President, and according to District Policy, "The elected member who has served the longest on the Board without ever serving as President," and was elected 12 months prior, would be appointed Vice President.

The only Director fitting those criteria now is Georgean Vonheeder-Leopold. This means that Georgean will be District President when she runs for reelection in 2014 and Dawn Benson would be past President, just like Rich Halket and Pat Howard were this year. I expect Ed Duarte to be President in 2016 when he's up for reelection.
