Four teens cited at drinking party

Teens who refused to leave a house where an underage drinking party was taking place found themselves talking to Danville police after the home's resident called for help.

Danville Police Sgt. Dan Hoffman said the incident occurred in the first block of Campbell Place around 9 p.m. Saturday night. Hoffman said dispatchers received a call from the teenage resident of the home who asked for help in getting some 30 other teens out of the residence.

On arrival, the officer saw a number of juveniles running around inside the home and spotted several bottles of alcoholic beverages. The youths locked the doors, but the juvenile resident allowed the officer in.

Apparently the juveniles had attended a party at the residence the previous night and returned on Saturday with alcohol. When the resident asked them to leave they refused, so he call 9-1-1 to request assistance.

Hoffman said the officer spoke with several of the teens at the residence and cited four of them for possession of alcohol.

Of the four cited, two were 17 and two were 18. The four were all from Danville and Alamo.

My thoughts exactly. The parents were obviously "out of town" since this event took place over two days. What's up with that? Not OK to leave teenagers home unsupervised while Mom and Dad are off to..wherever. At the very least, have a responsible mature neighbor check in frequently with the "older" teenagers.

Oh, puleese! Teenagers in the San Ramon Valley are empowered, entitled and catered to by their parents and it starts from birth. The parents are their peers in many ways so the kids act like their equals and mirror what the folks do. Parents have very little control and the kids know it. Most of them drink, do drugs, have sex. I live off Camino Tassajara and neighbor's kids live with their boyfriend du jour in the parents home, do drugs and drink (I've seen it) but the parents are home too! No big deal obviously. Welcome to the real world. Now get over it.

I have seen Danville parents lie, cheat, and do many undesirable things right in front of their own children and other children. All of the trouble makers have parents that allow them to get away with everything and anything. It is disgusting! These parents need to grow up and realize that they are only hurting their own child’s future. Start disciplining, start saying “no”, stop being your child’s friend and be their parent!!! In the long run, they will love and respect you more.
