Anderegg takes first runner-up in Miss California Oustanding Teen contest

Monte Vista High School junior Alissa Anderegg was recently named the first runner-up in the Miss California Outstanding Teen contest, the sister program to Miss America. This was Anderegg's third year competing and the second time as first runner-up. It is scheduled to be broadcast live on ABC in January.

She competed in three nights of preliminaries and one night of finals, which included an eight-minute interview about herself and current events; talent, in which she sang "Journey to the Past" from "Anastasia"; evening gown; onstage question; and physical fitness.

Anderegg has also been involved with Alzheimer's Awareness, a disease affecting her grandmother, since she started the program three years ago.

At Monte Vista, she has won awards for excellence in biology and chemistry and is involved in Play Production and the Advanced-Intermediate dance team.
