Services for Justin De Young planned for Friday morning

A memorial service for San Ramon Valley High School alumni Justin De Young are scheduled for 11 a.m., Friday, Aug. 20 at St. Timothy's Episcopal Church at 1550 Diablo Road.

An autopsy report reveals that the 19-year-old from Alamo was killed when he fell onto the pavement and was run over by a friend's SUV, which was going at a very slow speed, police said. A deputy coroner said he died from injuries and blunt force trauma.

Reports state that around 11:45 p.m., Sunday, Aug. 15, De Young hopped onto the running boards of the Toyota Sequoia and after about 75 yards, was unable to hang on.

Police Chief Steve Simpkins said it appeared to be an accident and not a stunt.

My heart and prayers go out to family and friends of this young man! Please accept my heartfelt condolences!
I pray God will grant you the "peace that is beyond all human understanding" as you take it one step at a time.
Prayers and love also to the young driver of the SUV!
