What to do when you've been waitlisted

For the second time, UC schools will be using wait lists in their Fall 2011 admission process. In this week's Doing College, college adviser Elizabeth LaScala discusses the finer points of this process and what students need to know.

To help your waitlist position---claim a minority status. However, best to not be Asian as that group is overly represented. Stanford Med has accepted MD candidates from Irvine Med last week. One is so unqualified she passed with D's! To beef her up---they sent her to Harvard for a masters in public health---which consisted of lunchtime seminars! So play the race card and watch the doors open.

It is amazing how people come up with statements that they cannot back up with facts. Sounds like sour grapes to me. Obviously "SHE", a woman, is a minority. Fact is that women are surpassing men in college enrollment. If a student is FEMALE and a minority, must mean she can get accepted for her undergraduate studies, then on to grad/medical school without having to lift a finger. As I said, amazing.
