Fire causes significant damage to East Prospect shop

A single alarm fire caused significant damage to a clothing boutique on East Prospect Avenue Monday night, San Ramon Valley Fire officials said. The blaze occurred at Last Detail at approximately 8:30 p.m. and was extinguished quickly.

"It was a fairly small fire. The actual store at 120 E. Prospect has some pretty significant damage and there was a bit of smoke and water damage to the store behind it," said Kimberly French, SRV Fire's public information officer.

Officials estimate damages to Last Detail at $110,000, with approximately $60,000 in structure damages and $110,000 in property loses.

Patrons at That Bar, located next door to the store, helped keep the fire under control with fire extinguishers. The cause of the blaze is still under investigation.

Crews from San Ramon Valley Fire also responded to a vegetation fire in Morgan Territory that burned nearly 200 acres on Thursday. A manure pile caught fire and strong winds blew the flames across the Livermore property, French said.

Along with Alameda County Fire, crews stopped forward progression of the blaze in a little under an hour.

so it looks like we can replace the Fire Department with drunks and hand-held fire extinguishers. Save the County some big $s and no pensions, just add a happy hour!
