Turf project at Sycamore Valley Park completed

Fields reponed for athletic use

Just in time for the beginning of the fall sports season, the artificial turf fields at Sycamore Valley Park officially reopened Tuesday morning.

The fields were shut down at the beginning of the summer in order to replace the aging turf. Over three months, crews removed the original turf, cleaned up and leveled the fields, then put down and secured the new turf.

Maintenance Services Director Jed Johnson said he was pleased that the project went well and through the diligence and hard work of town staff was completed on time for the new season. He also expressed his appreciation for the cooperation they received from all of the various athletic organizations.

"I want to thank all of the user groups for their cooperation and flexibility as we went through this project," Johnson said. "Now, with the project done we have new fields to enjoy for the next several years."
