Efforts to prevent landslides are under way at the development on the Elworthy property, west of San Ramon Valley Boulevard and south of the Quail Ridge subdivision.
Approved by the Town Council in 2008, Quail Ridge will put 84 single family homes and 13 multi-family apartments on the site; 95 percent of the acreage will be used for trails and open space.
During the approval process for Quail Ridge, geotechnical reports identified an area south of the planned development that showed the potential for a landslide that could affect San Ramon Valley Boulevard.
As part of the project approval, KB Homes is required to complete soils work to correct the landslide to eliminate any possibility of a future landslide.
The work is being done as a precaution prior to the planned widening of San Ramon Valley Boulevard. Once the soil is graded and compacted it will be hydroseeded to allow for the return of the natural field grasses.
