School District to hold forum on new state standards

Common Core implemented in 2014-2015 school year

Students in the San Ramon Valley can look forward to having to learn less, but think more deeply about what they learn as the school district moves to new standards for learning. The new standards and testing, known as Common Core, will be implemented during the 2014-2015 school year.

Parents will have the opportunity to learn more about Common Core implementation during two informational nights hosted by the SRVUSD Common Core Standards Implementation Team. The final informational session will be held from 7 p.m. - 9 p.m. on Oct. 23 at Monte Vista High.

"These evenings are for all, from kindergarten parents to parents of seniors," a release stated. "We believe that parents' understanding of this shift in content and practice in our classrooms is vital to our students' success.:

The evening will begin with a short general session to provide an overview of Common Core Standards and San Ramon Valley Unified's implementation plan. Parents may then attend two 45-minute sessions, choosing from a wide menu of workshop selections in an effort to meet their needs and answer their questions.

Well this is a real fubar situation. Post the story on the 21st for something that closed on the 18th and post a link for those that want to sign up that has already been filled. If the people in the district that put this together worked for me they wouldn't be working for me anymore.

Sorry, but further commenting on this topic has been closed.
