Danville residents can recycle their natural Christmas trees as part of their regular curbside waste service later this month.

The Central Contra Costa Solid Waste Authority will pick up ratepayers’ trees on their normal collection day from Jan. 13-17, according to town officials. The trees need to be free of decorations, detached from the stand, clean and without artificial snow or other sprayed-on whitening substances.

The Christmas tree service is provided to CCCSWA customers free-of-charge and presents an alternative to cutting up one’s tree and placing the pieces in the green-waste bin, Danville officials said. Artificial trees will not be accepted as part of this curbside tree service.

For more information about holiday tree recycling, contact the CCCSWA at 906-1801.
