Authorities located a missing, “at-risk” woman after nearly three hours of ground and aerial searches in and around Danville late Wednesday night, town officials said.

The 46-year-old woman, whose name was not released, was found “injured from what appeared to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound” in a field near the 2400 block of Mt. Diablo Scenic Boulevard at around 10:45 p.m., according to Danville Police Lt. Allan Shields.

The woman was reported missing just after 8 p.m. Wednesday, prompting searches involving Danville police officers and a California Highway Patrol air unit, according to Shields.

The woman was listed in critical condition at John Muir Medical Center in Walnut Creek as of early Thursday morning, Shields said. Updates on her condition were not available as of Thursday afternoon.

Investigators do not suspect foul play was involved in the incident, Danville Police Chief Steve Simpkins said.
