San Ramon Valley, Monte Vista compete in cycling championship

SRVHS placed second overall, MVHS placed fourth overall

Cyclists from San Ramon Valley High School and Monte Vista High School competed last weekend in the 2014 NorCal Conference Championships at Boggs Mountain in Cobb.

Both schools competed in the championship's south conference.

San Ramon Valley earned 16,690 points overall and placed second in Division 1. Monte Vista earned 14,901 points and placed fourth in D1.

Jenelle Doolittle (MVHS) placed third in the varsity girls, Melissa Lawrence (SRVHS) placed fourth in junior varsity girls, Madison Laird (SRVHS) placed fifth in junior varsity girls and Jasmine Endicott (SRVHS) placed first in freshman girls.

Alec Pasqualina (SRVHS) placed first in varsity boys, Ben Lowe (SRVHS) placed third in junior varsity boys D1, Jonathan Change (MVHS) placed second in junior varsity boys D2, Lars Entrom (MVHS) placed first in sophomore boys D1, Matthew O'Connell (MVHS) placed second in sophomore boys D1, Matthew Vegh (MVHS) placed third in sophomore boys D1, Nicolas Vomund (MVHS) placed first in freshman boys D1 and Grant Stone (SRVHS) placed third in freshman boys D1.

"My main goal going in was to take the overall," Pasqualina said.

Teams are now preparing to race at the 2014 State Championships on May 11 in Monterey.
