Feces find closes MVHS pool

Classes, activities on hold for 24 hours

The Monte Vista High School community pool was closed early Monday afternoon after a small amount of feces was discovered in the water, according to Danville town officials.

The pool is set to remain off limits to the public until 12:30 p.m. Tuesday (Aug. 5) in order to allow the water treatment time to take effect and cycle through, according to town public information coordinator Geoff Gillette.

Contra Costa County code requires the pool to be closed for cleaning and disinfection, so the pool has issued a 24-hour facility closure for all activities and classes, Gillette said.

"Issues like this occur on occasion, and while we regret the inconvenience to the community and our patrons, we mandate a 24-hour closure for the safety of our users," Gillette said.

Fortunately it was revealed to be an unwrapped Baby Ruth candy bar upon further analysis.
All is well
