Search continues for missing San Ramon woman

Luba Lusherovich, 77, suffers from dementia and speaks little English, authorities say

The search continued in San Ramon late Thursday afternoon for a missing 77-year-old woman who suffers from dementia and speaks little English, authorities said.

Luba Lusherovich was last seen just after noon Wednesday when she walked away from her family's home on Fountainhead Drive in San Ramon, according to city police Lt. Denton Carlson.

Police and Contra Costa County Search and Rescue initially searched for Lusherovich until 2:30 a.m. Thursday morning and then resumed their search roughly four and a half hours later, Carlson said. Lusherovich had not been located as of 3:30 p.m. Thursday.

"Unfortunately we have not found her yet," Carlson said during the afternoon update. "The search is continuing, and we have received several reports of sightings, which are being followed up on."

Lusherovich was last seen wearing a dark shirt, pants and dark low-heel shoes, according to police. She is 5-foot-5, weighs approximately 150 pounds, and has light brown hair and brown eyes. She speaks with a heavy Russian accent and does not have access to a vehicle.

Anyone with information that could assist in locating Lusherovich can contact San Ramon police at 973-2779.
