The Central Contra Costa Sanitary District (CCCSD) has announced the hire of a new communication services and intergovernmental relations manager.

Emily Barnett, a Pleasant Hill resident, will be in charge of the district’s community and government relations, public outreach and communications activities, the district announced earlier this month. She began work Aug. 10.

“We are very excited to welcome Emily to CCCSD. She has a fresh perspective, amazing credentials, and a wealth of experience that will help us to develop awareness of how we serve our communities and protect the environment,” district general manager Roger Bailey said in a statement.

Barnett previously worked as the director of communication and strategic development for ClearEra Communications and as the manager of government relations for PG&E in Stockton. She has a bachelor’s in political science from California State University, Stanislaus, and is in the process of earning her master’s degree in communications studies from San Jose State.

The Central Contra Costa Sanitary District provides sewer services to Danville and parts of San Ramon.
