Art exhibit on winged creatures coming to Danville

'Float, Flutter, Fly' focuses on winged and feathered animals

Danville's Village Theatre and Art Gallery is set to host a new art exhibit on the beauty and wonder of flying creatures into October.

The "Float, Flutter, Fly" showing is set to open this Friday (Sept. 11) at the gallery, 233 Front St. in Danville. It will run through Oct. 24.

Original artwork that fits the theme of feathered and winged creatures will be on display, including mixed media works of Jennifer Bain, encaustic works by Connie English, watercolors by Ellen Little, acrylics on canvas by John Maxon and life-sized sculptures of colorful birds by Jack Soman.

An opening reception for the exhibit is planned for Friday from 5-7 p.m. The event is free to the public and will include live harp music and complimentary wine and hors d'oeuvres.

The gallery is open to visitors Wednesdays to Fridays from noon to 5 p.m. and Saturdays from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. On Mondays and Tuesdays, the gallery is open by appointment. Admission is free.
