Police recover racecar stolen from San Ramon

1967 Mustang Fastback discovered undamaged in Oakland

Police on Friday found a highly valuable racecar that was stolen from in front of a San Ramon home on Tuesday parked in an Oakland storage yard.

The car, a custom 1967 Mustang Fastback racecar, was sitting in a trailer attached to a Ford F-150 pickup truck in the driveway of a home on Toltec Circle in San Ramon when it was stolen on Tuesday, according to San Ramon police.

An unknown person or persons drove away with the pickup truck with the trailer still attached.

The pickup was found in Oakland earlier Friday, and police asked the California Highway Patrol to search the nearby area by helicopter.

The helicopter unit spotted a trailer matching the description inside a storage yard at Railroad Avenue and Clara Street in Oakland, police said.

Police said they served a warrant at the yard Friday evening around 7:15 p.m. and found the stolen trailer with all identifying decals removed.

The Mustang was inside and undamaged.

Police said they did not locate anyone inside the storage yard and they are still searching for the culprits in the theft.
