Danville police arrest man on firearm charges

Seat-belt stop leads to officer finding 2 handguns in car, lieutenant says

A Byron man was arrested in Danville on Wednesday morning after police allegedly found a stolen gun and a concealed firearm in his car after a traffic stop on San Ramon Valley Boulevard.

Erick Trujillo, 23, was booked into county jail on suspicion of possessing stolen property, a loaded weapon and a concealed weapon, according to Danville police Lt. Allan Shields.

Trujillo was driving on the 2200 block of San Ramon Valley Boulevard around 10:25 a.m. when a traffic officer noticed he wasn't wearing his seat belt, according to Shields.

While interacting with the 23-year-old after conducting a traffic stop, the officer saw a handgun in the car and told the man to get out of the vehicle, Shields said, adding that the firearm was later determined to have been stolen.

A search of the vehicle reportedly revealed a second handgun. Trujillo was arrested and transported to the Martinez Detention Facility.
