Village Theatre gallery accepting exhibit proposals

Guest curators to be evaluated by gallery committee

Danville's Village Theatre and Art Gallery is accepting proposals for new exhibits by guest curators.

Individuals interested in curating an event are encouraged to visit the gallery to be familiar with the space before submitting a proposal. The "Call for Curator Proposals" application can be found at the gallery website under "Propose an Exhibit."

Proposals will be reviewed in two stages. First, candidates will communicate the essential elements of their proposal through a written application and provided photos. The gallery's Curatorial Committee will then reach out to the finalists for follow-up review.

The Village Theatre and Art Gallery schedule is planned 18 months in advance, and reviews of exhibits occur on a quarterly basis, according to the gallery's website.

The gallery is a 1,000-square-foot exhibition space opened in 2009 for the enhancement of the town's art scene, according to town officials.
