Danville set for tree-lighting

Downtown Danville is set to host the annual Lighting of the Old Oak Tree this Friday.

The event will begin at 5 p.m. and will include food tastings, live music throughout downtown and a performance by the San Ramon Valley High School chorus near the reviewing stand on Diablo Road, event organizers said. Several other areas throughout downtown will feature performers as well.

During the town tradition welcoming the holiday season, Father Christmas and the Snow Angel will light the historical tree, illuminating Diablo Road in the heart of downtown.

Diablo Road, Prospect Avenue and Hartz Avenue will be closed from 1-9 p.m. Friday for the event, which typically draws hundreds of people to downtown.
