Danville high schools' choirs finalists in radio contest

Voting ends this Monday in KDFC competition

Student singing groups from both Danville comprehensive high schools are finalists in a Bay Area classical radio station's "Local Vocals High School Choir Sing-Off" contest.

The Monte Vista High School Chamber Singers and the San Ramon Valley High School Chamber Singers are battling each other, and the Concert Choir from Palo Alto's Gunn High School, for the top prize in the KDFC (90.3 FM) competition.

Online voting will determine the winning group, which will get the chance to sing live on "From the Top," a national youth talent radio show, when it comes to San Jose State University in February.

Videos of all three groups performing are available on the KDFC website, along with the ballot. Voting closes this Monday (Dec. 7) at 11:59 p.m.

I dont know anyone at San Ramon Valley High School not even choir director nor members of that group.

But by chance some 5 years ago I decided to attend once choir concert.

Was "BLOWN AWAY" as they say.

These high school students were singing such wonderful songs from many foreign countries in the language of that country. I've heard French, German, Spanish, an African language, middle English and Old, from students with wonderful quality singing.

The Choir director adds much humor as well to his concerts.

Any given concert not only presents singing choir members BUT ALSO the choir will do on tiered platforms movements to accompany their songs at times, adding to the fantastic delight.

I also decided to never cross the bridge to attend anything in SF where one would have to wade past drunks, smelly allies, prostitutes, pimps, and drug pushers and users!!!

The choir is just fabulous given that we are talking about our own local high school students.

Best visible/audible part of the local high school scene.

The SRV High School chorale group sang holiday songs at the annual Viet Nam Veteran December dinner last week, and their performance was the very best, putting all of in the mood for the season. Their performance could not have been better.

I wholeheartedly agree with comments by frankly and Viet Vet.

Yesterday, the San Ramon High School Chamber singers performed at the Alamo Women's Club Holiday Luncheon and were fantastic! I thought that we were going to hear a snippet of holiday songs, but we were treated to what seemed like a full concert!

Not only were the 12 singers talented vocally, their crisp (and many times humorous) body gestures were very professional.

C.D's of their music (both pop and holiday) were being sold for $15 each as a fundraiser to support their upcoming group trip to Europe. A perfect reminder of their gifts, and for holiday giving.

Bravo!
