SRPD: Man arrested after being found in school restroom

Transient made no verbal or physical contact with students, lieutenant says

A man was arrested after allegedly being found in a girls' bathroom at San Ramon's Walt Disney Elementary School on Monday morning.

Edward James Montez, who is a local transient, faces charges of misdemeanor disrupting a school or pupils and probation violation, according to San Ramon police Lt. Craig Stevens.

The investigation indicates Montez, 34, did not make verbal or physical contact with students, Stevens said in a statement.

Police were called to the school at 3250 Pine Valley Road around 11:45 a.m. Monday after receiving a report about a man being seen in a girls' bathroom on school grounds, the lieutenant said.

Officers arrived, contacted Montez in a bathroom and detained him on suspicion of disrupting the school or its pupils, according to Stevens. The transient was later booked into the Martinez Detention Facility.

I am disgusted at all of you jumping to conclusions. Maybe he felt like a woman that day. Aren't we supposed to be tolerant of gender bending confused people? Maybe he had to use a bathroom, felt like a girl that day and used the women's bathroom. If I feel like a man today, and a women tomorrow and then a man again, isn't that my business? (according to politically correctness these days). Is there proper signage in 20 languages on the girls bathroom saying it can only be used by girls who feel like girls every day, not just once in a while. Oh, and for those with zero sense of humor, let me point out that I'm joking and it's a serious matter for the school and society to deal with.

Also, is the real story:
1. that an adult was on the school grounds?
2. that a man was in the girls bathroom?
3. that he was a transient?

Which one is "illegal"?

Maybe he just really had to use a bathroom.

There is a public "porta-potty" at the school next to the Iron Horse Trail if he needed to use a bathroom.

There is NO good reason for him to be in the girls bathroom on an elementary school campus.

Do you want your 6-8 year old daughter going into that bathroom by herself with that man in there?

Good thing that new fence was put in to improve school safety.
