San Ramon is set to host a stage production inspired by the children's book series "Bad Kitty" this month.
"Bad Kitty on Stage" follows the comedic high jinks of the titular housecat Kitty, whose adventures feature her quirky animal friends and some zany human ones. The children's play was adapted from author and illustrator Nick Bruel's book series, which debuted in 2005.
The Bay Area Children's Theatre production is directed by Benjamin Hanna and stars Sango Tajima as Kitty, with book and underscoring music by Min Kahng.
The show's Bay Area run features three stops, including the Dougherty Valley Performing Arts Center in San Ramon on Feb. 27-28. Performances are 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. both days.
"Bad Kitty on Stage" is being performed weekends at the Freight and Salvage in Berkeley now through Feb. 21, and after the San Ramon stop, it moves to the Children's Creativity Museum Theater in San Francisco for weekend performances March 5-26.
The play is recommended for children 4 years old and up, and the performance lasts 60 minutes with no intermission, according to organizers. For tickets, visit the theater group's website or call 510-296-4433.
