Artist to share techniques in Alamo

Award-winning watercolor artist Myrna Wacknov will paint a portrait and show how she achieves interesting textures with Gesso and other mediums on watercolor paper at 7:30 p.m. this Tuesday at the Alamo Women's Club, 1401 Danville Blvd., at the monthly demonstration hosted by the Alamo Danville Artists' Society.

Wacknov's passions for color and for portraiture and figurative work have been ongoing themes since childhood. As a teenager she began studying with world-renowned portrait artist Frank Szaz.

She earned her degree in painting and drawing at San Francisco State University and started her own company in 1982. She continues to explore the possibility of watercolors, with a special emphasis on color, dramatic impact and textures.

Tuesday's event is free and open to the public. For more information, contact artists' society president Megan Parks-Haller at 413-3438.
