County airport to start hosting jet flights to SoCal, Las Vegas

JetSuiteX selling regular trips on 30-seat private planes from Buchanan Field

A Contra Costa County airport will expand service this month with public jets traveling to Southern California and Las Vegas, county airport officials said last week.

A new arm of private jet charter company JetSuite will be doing daily trips to Burbank as well as weekend trips to Las Vegas from Buchanan Field Airport near Concord.

Billed as a way of "making luxury travel more affordable," JetSuiteX will offer flights on a 30-seat private jets starting next week with prices said to be comparable to commercial flights.

Seats on the local flight to Burbank, which are scheduled beginning Thursday, cost between $100 and around $200.

County officials said the company's fleet -- touted as among the quietest, as to not disturb residents -- may be flying out of Buchanan Field Airport to other destinations later this year.

"(The county) is delighted to welcome JetSuiteX to the Buchanan Field Airport, and provide our residents and businesses with a local travel option to Southern California and other desirable destinations," Contra Costa County Supervisor Karen Mitchoff said in a statement.

Irvine-based JetSuite has already also planned for flights between Mineta San Jose International Airport and Bozeman, Montana, near Yellowstone National Park, through the JetSuiteX service.
