Danville opens recruitment for town commission positions

Spots available on Arts, Heritage Resource, Parks and Leisure Services boards

Danville officials are accepting applications through late May from residents interested in serving on several town commissions.

Positions are available on the town's Heritage Resource, Arts and Parks and Leisure Services commissions, in addition to a seat as Danville representative on the Contra Costa County Advisory Council on Aging.

The Heritage Resource Commission has two regular vacancies for terms expiring at the end of 2019, as well as an alternate member position that ends in December 2018. One full position must be filled by a licensed architect and the other by a person with interest in the culture/arts of the community.

The Arts Commission has one regular vacancy for a term ending June 30, 2019, and a youth commissioner position for a two-year term beginning July 1.

The Parks and Leisure Services Commission is also looking for a youth commissioner to fill a two-year term starting July 1.

The Danville representative spot on the county's Advisory Council on Aging is a two-year term.

Applications must be submitted to Danville officials by 4 p.m. May 25. Town Council members will conduct candidate interviews on the evenings of June 7 and 21 and the morning of June 14. They plan to name new commissioners during the June 21 council meeting.

To obtain an application or learn more information, call city clerk Marie Sunseri at 314-3401 or visit the town website.
