'Star Wars' fans can celebrate 'May the 4th' in Danville

Jedi lessons, scavenger hunt, 'Force Awakens' screening among event highlights

May the 4th be with you.

That's what Danville town officials are saying to local "Star Wars" fans, offering a series of activities where people can get decked out in their favorite "Star Wars" gear and attend the first-ever celebration hosted by the town this Wednesday.

Danville's event -- occurring on "Star Wars Day," which takes advantage of a play on words with the film franchise's iconic phrase, "May the force be with you" -- includes a scavenger hunt in which participants can search for "Star Wars" characters hidden at businesses in downtown Danville. The scavenger hunt list will be located at the Danville Community Center and will start at 10:30 a.m.

Young fans can learn how to become a Jedi in participating in Jedi training activities in the Town Green from 4-6 p.m. for $5 per child.

From 8-10:30 p.m., the Village Theatre will show the newest movie, "Star Wars: The Force Awakens." General admission tickets to see the film is $5. For more information, visit the town website.
