Run San Ramon set for Independence Day

10K run, 5K walk/run Monday morning benefit city's community programs

Fourth of July in San Ramon will kick off bright and early with the 24th annual Run San Ramon, which offers a 10K run and 5K fun run and walk this Monday.

The popular Independence Day event starts at 8 a.m., beginning at the San Ramon Community Center at Central Park, 12501 Alcosta Blvd.

The pre-registered San Ramon resident male and female winners of the 5K and 10K will be awarded Mayor's Cup trophies. The Mayor's Crown trophy will be awarded to the lowest combined times of the 2015 Bah Humbug! and 2016 Run San Ramon pre-registered 5K male and female runners.

The first three finishers in each of the 18 age divisions will be awarded medals, and a short-sleeve commemorative shirt will be given to all pre-registered runners.

Proceeds from Run San Ramon will benefit the City of San Ramon's community programs. Entry costs $40 now through race day.

Beverages, snacks and goodies will also be provided by the sponsors: Chevron, Crunch Fitness, Sun Deep Cosmetics, San Ramon Golf Academy, ClubSport San Ramon, Contra Costa County Sheriff's Office and Peet's Coffee.

Check-in and race-day registration will be open at 6:45 a.m.
