U.S. Rep. Mark DeSaulnier (D-Concord) is set to hold a town hall discussion in Danville this week as part of a summer meeting series throughout his district aimed at giving him a chance to hear from local residents and update them on what's been happening in Congress.
The freshman congressman, whose district includes parts of the San Ramon Valley, is scheduled appear at the Veterans Memorial Building, 400 Hartz Ave., in downtown Danville from 7-8:30 p.m. Wednesday.
DeSaulnier said remaining accessible to his constituents is one of his top priorities, and the town hall series -- which kicks off Monday in Richmond -- is among the ways he strives to achieve that goal.
"Hearing directly from the residents of Contra Costa County helps make me a better representative," he said in a statement. "It is my hope that these town hall meetings will serve as a place for constituents to share their thoughts and opinions on issues important to our community."
"I invite you to join me at a town hall meeting to listen to a congressional update on key policy issues, learn about our legislative work in Congress and discuss the broad range of services we can provide," DeSaulnier added.
DeSaulnier is also set to hold town hall meetings in Orinda (Saturday), Rossmoor (Saturday), Concord (Aug. 8) and Pittsburg (Aug. 10). He has held 23 town halls and mobile district office hours throughout his district since taking office in January 2015.

DeSaulnier is vying for a second term as the 11th Congressional District representative, facing Republican challenger Roger Allen Petersen in the general election this November.
