Parcel of land (approx. 3 acres) off Old Blackhawk road is slated to be developed with 17 homes. This development is strongly opposed by most of the established home owners as the number of homes proposed would adversely effect the surrounding area. 90 established redwood trees would be lost. Traffic would of course increase and in this case the road is a dead end and quite narrow in places. The area to be developed also doesn't address the parking effectively, leaving little room for visitors or the home owner for that much. The cutting of the trees would cost present residents to increase their costs to keep the homes cool as the trees provide much needed shade. The proposed homes are slated to be over 3000sq ft of living space on a parcel of 5000 sq ft. Lastly, these new homes will most likely do nothing to increase the value of the homes around them. The only winner is the builder.
