Cancer support nonprofit hosting Party Palooza fundraiser series

'Twilight Tasting,' 'Soups of the World' among events benefiting Sandra J. Wing Foundation

The Sandra J. Wing Healing Therapies Foundation is set to hold seven fundraisers during the next two months as part of the Party Palooza "mini event" series to support the nonprofit's efforts to help Tri-Valley cancer patients during their treatment.

The eighth annual Party Palooza kicks off Sept. 15 with the "Twilight Tasting Fundraiser at Page Mill Winery." Five other events are also returning favorites for the series, and the Oktoberfest 5K fun run/walk in Livermore on Sept. 17 is the only first-time event this year.

Each event is designed as a small-scale social occasion hosted by local residents and companies, who contribute their time, talent, food, supplies and venues so all guest reservations and donations directly benefit the foundation, organizers said.

"We've been able to help over 900 local cancer patients because of the amazing community support we receive," foundation CEO Sandra Wing said in a statement. "Our many fundraising events, including the series of Party Palooza community events, help us reach our goals of serving the Tri-Valley."

The Party Palooza schedule also features:

* Sept. 16: "A Passage to India: Bollywood Nite"

* Sept. 19: "Sip and Paint"

* Oct. 20: "Dinner at Uncle Yu's at the Vineyard"

* Oct. 21: "Gourmet Dinner with the Shapiros"

* Nov. 5: "Soups of the World."

Ticket prices, locations and schedules vary for the events, which have a limited number of seats available and have been known to sell out quickly. Reservations are required.

A 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, the foundation provides assistance to cancer patients so they can experience the benefit of complementary therapies to help alleviate side effects caused by radiation and chemotherapy.
