Defendants plead not guilty for Danville, East Bay robberies

Prosecutors allege crimes gang-related, could be tied to other Bay Area incidents

Six men accused in a string of gang-related break-ins and home invasion robberies throughout the East Bay all pleaded not guilty to their charges Tuesday.

They could all face life in prison because the charges carry firearms and gang enhancements, according to Contra Costa County Superior Court documents.

The men -- Tarell Brown, 19, Ronald James Fluker III, 19, Bobby Ray Williams, 20, Tommie Ray Woods, 19, Torion Demonte Young, 18, and Marrico Teyon Williams, 19 -- are all accused of being members of Richmond's Swerve Team gang.

They are also accused of committing home-invasion robberies, a car jacking and burglaries in Danville, Livermore and Fremont from March 24 to Sept. 29 of this year.

Investigators believe they might also be responsible for a series of other armed robberies that bear a resemblance to the crimes the men are currently charged with.

Orinda police chief Mark Nagel has said the members of the Contra County District Attorney's task force that arrested the men believe they could be responsible for the high-profile robbery and shooting of an Orinda school board member on Sept. 26, although they have not been charged with that crime.

One of the defendants, Marrico Teyon Williams, was a “fellow” at the Richmond Office Of Neighborhood Safety, an organization that pays young gentlemen like Mr. Williams up to $1,000 per month for meeting certain “life-map” goals. Taxpayer money helps pay for the program’s staffing costs and overhead.

The biggest issue facing our country in this election is not whether Donald Trump said something inappropriate on a tape 11 years ago, or whether Hillary has attacked the victims of Bill's sexual victims, but whether as a nation we support law and order and the police, or support the criminals who are taking over our streets. Hillary and her Black Lives Matter allies, along with ambulance chasing lawyers, are making it impossible for the police to do their job, and protect law abiding citizens. If you want to see more and more violent crime in what were safe suburbs, vote for Hillary. If you believe in law and order, and supporting the police and their efforts to keep us safe, vote for Trump. These other alleged issues that the liberal media keeps bringing up are red herrings, used to distract you from what really matters.

Crime rates have been going down for 20 years, O'Hare. Please give an example of how the job of police is being made more difficult. They have been receiving surplus military equipment and gear ever since 9/11. What more would you do? Or are you troubled that wearing body cameras might make the police more accountable when some of them misbehave?

I hear Clinton supporting ideas that work, like "community policing."

I hear Trump talking about "law and order," but not a mention -- ever -- of "justice."

According to FBI statistics, the homicide rate in the U.S. jumped alarmingly in 2015, up by 6.2% over 2014. This is during the same time period that Obama and the liberals started their war on the police, second guessing every police shooting that occurred, even before an investigation and the evidence was in. The leftist rhetoric from Obama has caused an anti-police wave, where the police are now treated as criminals, and the first question is now always what color was the criminal and what color was the police officer. People in the community do not cooperate with the police, as seen in Chicago which has more murders than Los Angeles and New York City combined, as children are gunned down in the middle of the day and allegedly nobody saw anything.

The police now realize that due to the stereotypes of police by Obama and the Clinton machine, witnesses do not come forward, do not trust the police, and in fact the police are now actually being hunted by killers simply for wearing a police uniform. The police also realize that the Clinton machine and their ambulance chasing lawyers will sue the police and make their lives miserable and second guess everything they do, despite the fact they have to make instant life and death decisions in the most stressful of times. The police are human, and any humans dealing in this climate of police hate created by the Obama and Clinton people, realize the easiest thing to do is simply clock in, clock out, and do not attempt to get involved and stop crimes. This was witnessed by the local car jacking in Danville where the police stopped chasing the criminals once they headed to Oakland.

Until we have a President who respects the police, and creates an environment that thanks them for their service and encourages them to do their job, our crime rates will continue to increase.

O'Hare, according to FBI statistics, the murder rate rose during the 8 years of the Bush Administration after dropping significantly during the Clinton years, and then started down again after Obama took office - and in fact has been lower throughout the years of the Obama Administration than at any time since LBJ. (The 2015 rate was up from 2014, but still much lower than 2008)

Obama has praised the police for the good and hard job they do. There have been many.

[removed] police often use greater and more deadly force against black citizens than against white citizens. It is a problem that must be addressed and remedied -- not ignored.

Hillary used to be a Deplorable. Remember when she said:

“They are not just gangs of kids anymore. They are often the kinds of kids that are called ‘super-predators.’ No conscience, no empathy…We have to bring them to heel.”

Crime dropped like a rock after Bill Clinton passed the 1994 Violent Crime Control Act.

Clinton presided over the largest increase in prison inmates of any president in American history. When Clinton left office in 2001, the U.S. had the highest rate of incarceration in the world. What followed was a steady drop in crime.

Liberals today argue that the drop in crime wasn’t due to mass incarceration. Maybe so. One thing’s for sure, crime rates have spiked recently. What's causing that? The Ferguson effect? Who knows.
