San Ramon: Chamber reveals winners of 2016 Business and Community Awards

Citizen of the Year, Employees of the Year among awards to be handed out at 'Night of the Stars' Dec. 1

The San Ramon Chamber of Commerce has announced the recipients of its 32nd annual Business and Community Awards to be presented at the chamber's "Night of the Stars" dinner ceremony Dec. 1.

The chamber will present seven awards during the event: Citizen of the Year, Business Person of the Year, Employee of the Year (Private Sector), Employee of the Year (Public Sector), Educator of the Year, Green Business of the Year and Ambassador of the Year.

"The Business and Community Awards event is an opportunity to thank and give appreciation to individuals who have made a significant difference and contribution in our community," chamber president and CEO Stewart Bambino said in a statement Monday. "Come and network, enjoy good food and honor those around us who help to make San Ramon an exceptional place to live and work."

The 2016 award winners are:

Citizen of the Year: Joan Ernst, Dublin/San Ramon Women's Club and numerous volunteer positions.

Business Person of the Year: Rodney Worth, owner Worth Ranch - Worth Group.

Employee of the Year (Private Sector): Amy Russell, UC Davis, Graduate School of Management, associate director of admissions.

Employee of the Year (Public Sector): Lt. Denton Carlson, San Ramon Police Department.

Educator of the Year: Joyce Rooks, Creekside Elementary School.

Green Business of the Year: Central Contra Costa Sanitary District (Central San).

Ambassador of the Year: Quang Do, representative of Guardian Life/WestPac Wealth Partners.

The "Night of the Stars" awards dinner is set for the evening of Dec. 1 at The Bridges Golf Club, 9000 South Gale Ridge Road (off Bollinger Canyon Road) in San Ramon. The event will begin with networking at 5:30 p.m., and dinner will follow at 6:30 p.m. The evening will end by 9 p.m.

Tickets, which are limited, are available through the Chamber of Commerce at $75 each or $600 for a table for eight.

Sponsors include Chevron, the city of San Ramon, San Ramon Regional Medical Center, Bishop Ranch/Sunset Development, PG&E, Diablo Valley College, Kaiser Permanente, Republic Services and Whipple, Mercado & Associates, LLP.
