Inaugural Danville Turkey Dash to benefit SF shelter

Downtown scavenger hunt offers top finishers prizes, donations in their names

The Danville Youth Council is inviting residents of all ages to dash around downtown Danville for a good cause this Saturday, according to town officials.

The first-ever Danville Turkey Dash will feature a scavenger hunt at participating downtown businesses and provide assistance to the Glide Foundation crisis shelter in San Francisco.

Turkey dashers can pick up their first scavenger hunt clue at the Danville Senior Center, 115 E. Prospect Ave., from 10:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday.

The first 10 participants to finish the hunt will receive a Danville Gift Card and the value of a turkey donated in their name to Glide. All participants to finish will receive a gift bag and the opportunity to donate to Glide.

Town officials urge those interested in donating to make a monetary donation to Glide for holiday meals, instead of contributing frozen turkeys because the town doesn't have the facilities set up to store and transport them.

The Danville Youth Council is a town-appointed group of middle school and high school students who meet regularly to represent the interests of youth in Danville.

For more information on the Turkey Dash, contact the Danville Community Center at 314-3400 or visit the Youth Council webpage.
