Fine cars are taking over downtown this Saturday and Sunday for the 13th annual Danville d’Elegance weekend.

The fundraising weekend features several different events, all of which are dedicated to raising money to benefit Parkinson’s research and patient care.

The weekend opens with the Tour d’Elegance, a Saturday car procession starting from Walnut Creek’s Cole European, 2103 N. Main St. Registration opens at 7 a.m., with a departure time of 8:30 a.m. Participants are expected to arrive at the lunch destination at 11:30 a.m. and return to Cole European at 3 p.m.

The Gala Dinner d’Elegance will take place later that day at Blackhawk Museum, 3700 Blackhawk Plaza Circle, Danville. Doors open at 5:30 p.m., with cocktails and an auction starting off the evening. Dinner will be served at 7:30, during which time Grammy award-winning musician Linda Ronstadt give the crowd a presentation.

And Sunday will be dominated by the Concours d’Elegance, the car show. Exhibitor registration will take place from 7:30-10 a.m., and the show will be open to the public from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Aside from vehicle displays, the Concours also features a noontime race car parade down Hartz Avenue and an awards ceremony at 3 p.m.

Gala tickets cost $325 per person and registration fees for the car show are $125 per vehicle and $40 per motorcycle.

The Concours d’Elegance will result in road closures on Sunday: from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m., Hartz Avenue will be closed from Diablo Road to Hartz Way, along with side streets Prospect Avenue, School Street and Church Street.
