The last day to buy tickets for the San Ramon Chamber of Commerce’s annual Business and Community Awards Dinner is Wednesday this week.

This is the 33rd year for the awards dinner, which is scheduled for Dec. 7. At the event, the San Ramon Chamber will present five awards to local recipients: Citizens of the Year, Business Person of the Year, Employee of the Year, Educator of the Year and Ambassador of the Year.

“The Business and Community Awards event is an opportunity to thank and give appreciation to individuals who have made a significant difference and contribution in our community,” said Stewart Bambino, the chamber’s president/CEO. “Come and network, enjoy good food and honor those around us who help to make San Ramon an exceptional place to live and work.”

All nominations for the awards were submitted by Sept. 21, and, after a selection process, six community members will be honored at the Dec. 7 event:

Citizens of the Year Award Gary Alpert and Heidi Kenniston-Lee, co-chairs for the San Ramon 150 Committee and other volunteer positions

Business Person of the Year Tammy J. Mercado, general partner at Whipple, Mercado & Associates, LLP

Employee of the Year Denise Pangelinan, director of emergency communications, San Ramon Valley Fire Protection District

Educator of the Year Shanna Gagnon, teacher at California High School, San Ramon Valley Unified School District

Ambassador of the Year Robert C. Moore, RSVP Bay Area/H&L Magazine

The awards ceremony, themed “A Night of Stars,” is scheduled to be held at The Bridges Golf Club, 9000 S. Gale Ridge Road, San Ramon from 5:30-9 p.m. Networking will open the evening and dinner will be served an hour later at 6:30 p.m.

Terry Koehne, chief communications officer at the Contra Costa County Office of Education, will be hosting the awards program; other speakers will include San Ramon Mayor Bill Clarkson and Dave Thompson, chairman of the San Ramon Chamber Board of Directors.

Tickets cost $75 per person or $600 for a table of eight. They can be purchased online or contact Kathy Fanning at the Chamber office at 242-0600 or via email at kathy.fanning@SanRamon.org.
