A Concord man has been identified as the victim of a fatal collision in Walnut Creek last weekend.
Sergio Quilici, 34, was reportedly struck by a Honda Accord at Alderwood Road and Treat Boulevard at approximately 5:42 a.m. Sunday when the driver lost control of the vehicle, according to preliminary investigation findings from California Highway Patrol.
Investigators said that Quilici had stopped his Nissan van, exited and was standing behind his vehicle facing westbound near the intersection when he was hit by the Honda. Both vehicles were reportedly facing westbound.
Quilici was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the CHP. The driver of the Honda, whose name has not been released, sustained severe injuries.
CHP was continuing to investigate the collision, with a spokesperson being unavailable for an update comment as of Thursday afternoon.
Correction: A previous version of this story included an incorrect spelling of the victim’s name that was initially provided by the Contra Costa County Coroner’s Division. A family friend, and later the coroner’s division, confirmed on Friday the correct spelling as Sergio Quilici. Embarcadero Media regrets the confusion.
