The winter moratorium on Danville Sports Fields comes to an end Feb. 27, however the current spate of wet weather may keep the fields closed a bit longer.
In order to preserve the natural grass fields maintained by the Town and the San Ramon Valley Unified School District during the rainy winter months, Danville closes down the fields from December to March. The closure includes the Dog Park at Hap Magee Ranch Park.
Town Maintenance Services Manager Jed Johnson said that the moratorium officially will end, but ongoing rainfall may force the town to keep the fields closed.
“With the current inclement weather and the forecast for more rain the remainder of this week, it is possible the opening of the fields may be postponed,” Johnson said.
Those interested in using the sports fields are asked to check the town hotline to be certain the fields are reopened. The Sports Field Information line is updated by noon on weekdays and by 7 a.m. on weekends. Call 314-3484.
