Light rain is forecast to fall on the Bay Area this week, a National Weather Service forecaster said.

As early as Tuesday evening (March 25), a front of steady showers is forecast to make its way south across the North Bay to San Francisco and continue on-and-off through Wednesday, forecaster Diana Henderson said.

Most areas will see between a tenth of an inch and a quarter-inch of rainfall, she said. Higher elevations in the North Bay and coastal mountains might get up to an inch of rain.

Spring-like warm temperatures should return to the area by Friday, according to the weather service.
